Former Hokkaido Government Office Building

Built in 1888 in the American neo-baroque style. It is widely known to the people of Hokkaido by the nickname “Akarenga” (red brick).

Inside the building, there is an archives and a museum of Sakhalin history, which is open to the public. Designated as a National Important Cultural Property.
