Shirahige Falls(Whitebeard Falls)

A cascade of waterfalls cascading into a cobalt blue river

The waterfall is 40 meters wide and has a drop of 30 meters. Dozens of thin strands of water fall down into the Biei River with great force.

The water from the falls is underground water seeping from the cracks of the lava layer, and is classified as a submerged waterfall, which is a rare type of spring waterfall.
You can see the falls from the Blue River Bridge over the Bieigawa River.

The color of the river is a beautiful cobalt blue due to volcanic substances in the water.

The Shirogane Onsenkyo Hotel and the Shirogane Tourism Center are located right next to the waterfall, and visitors can use the parking lot and restrooms at the Shirogane Tourism Center.

Faces of the Four Seasons

In autumn, you can see the collaboration of autumn leaves and the azure river.

In winter, the contrast between the white of the snow and the white of the rocks stands out, and the spray and steam from the waterfall creates a fantastic view of fog and ice on the trees.
