Mt. Asahidake

Asahidake is the highest peak in Hokkaido and the main peak of the Daisetsuzan mountain range, rising 2,291 meters above sea level.
A ropeway runs up to 1,600 meters above sea level, and once you get off at the Sugatami station, you will find yourself in a gentle alpine zone with highland plants in full bloom.
Visitors can see plants that can only be found on 3,000-meter mountains in Honshu.

The Sugatami Pond walking trail, which takes about one hour to complete, leads to the trail to the summit of Mt.

Asahidake. Many climbers visit the area in summer. Emergency equipment and clothing similar to that of the Northern Alps in autumn are necessary in case of sudden changes in weather conditions.

In winter, skiing can be enjoyed for the longest period in Japan.

Daisetsuzan is designated as an active volcano, but no significant magma eruptions have occurred in the last 3,000 years.

Daisetsuzan Asahidake Ropeway

Asahidake (1,100m above sea level) to the 5th station (1,600m above sea level) of Asahidake, the main peak of the Daisetsuzan mountain range.

Asahidake, and the 101-passenger gondola takes you on a 10-minute aerial walk. Asahidake, and you can enjoy the magnificent nature of the mountain. In top season, the ropeway runs for about 15 minutes each way.
