Hakodate St. John’s Church is a church with four white walls decorated with a cross and a brown cross-shaped roof.
In 1874, an English priest landed in Hakodate and began missionary work.
Successive pastors have established schools, hospitals, and other facilities in the city, and have made great achievements in the fields of education and welfare.
Its impressive cross-shaped roof can be seen from the top of Mount Hakodate.
It is one of the three representative churches of Hakodate and Motomachi (along with Hakodate Haristos Orthodox Church and Motomachi Catholic Church).
