About 2 million sunflowers bloom over an expansive 23 hectares (about 5 times the size of the Tokyo Dome), making it famous as the largest sunflower field in Japan and a delight for visitors.
During the season, from mid-July to late August, the entire field is covered in a golden color with magnificent large flowers.
The view of the rolling hills tinted yellow is breathtaking, especially on sunny days when the yellow of the sunflowers against the blue sky is sure to be a picture-perfect sight.
There is also an observatory in the site that overlooks the entire sunflower field, and the view from the two-story observatory near the parking lot is outstanding.
In addition, the triple waterwheel in one corner is one of the most popular spots, and in the hot summer months, the water splashing and spinning around is cool and the sound of the water is pleasant.
There are also permanent events such as the “Sunflower Maze,” a popular giant maze through the sunflower field, and the “World Sunflower Corner,” where visitors can view 30 types of sunflowers, as well as fireworks displays and special events on weekends.
Visitors can also rent bicycles and take the “Himawari-go” sightseeing car for an easy tour of the large grounds.
There is also a tourist center with restaurants and stores, and the “sunflower soft serve ice cream” mixed with sunflower seeds is highly recommended.
